Just a video showing a full reboot of Ubuntu 14.04.. Counting from the time I click restart to when the desktop appears again..The second it appears it is ready to use. Hardware is nothing fancy but it performs really well. Machine specs.. AMD Phenom II X4 3.4GHZ 8GB of Corsair DDR3 1600MHZ 500GB Sata WD 7200rpm Hard Drive (5 years old) ATI Radeon 7790 1GB X-Edition ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 Ofcourse there's numerous tweaks you can do including installing a lighter Kernel which will speed up boot time even more but this is just the standard after install 14.04. My mobo also has a fast boot option (which is not in use) which would shave additional seconds off the time.
