AL YOUNG, who was the California Poet Laureate until 2008, is the author of
22 books, including Jazz Idiom: Blueprints, Stills and Frames (The Jazz Photography of Charles L. Robinson), Coastal Nights and Inland Afternoons: Poems 2001-2006, The Sound of Dreams Remembered: Poems 1990-2000, and Heaven: Poems: 1957-1990. He is the recipient of two Pushcart Prizes, two American Book Awards, and the PEN Library of Congress Award for Short Fiction, among others. He has taught writing and literature at Stanford University, the University of California at Santa Cruz, San Jose State U., and the University of Michigan. With bassist Dan Robbins, his poetry & audio CD The Sea, The Sky, And You, And I appeared this Spring.
